Laura Mulvey - Male Glaze

From Laura Mulveys theory on 'The Male Gaze', what i understand from it is that men see women as sexual objects and song directors portray females as objects by the things they make them wear, what they see, the actions, the facial expressions so on and so forth. In many music videos that show females in this way such as R&B and Hip Hop have the camera in certain angles that makes the females look even more appealing to the human eye, that shot is a low angle shot. As an audience we will break down the representation that is shown in the music video and will interpret it based on our own cultural references and understanding.

2 Music videos that do this are, E40 - Cany Paint and G Unit - P.I..M.P
