Function Of a Music Video

I believe that the function of a music video is to promote the artist, however some videos are only there to entertain for example 'Deadmau5', they do not use an artist to promote the music but make people enjoy the music video, the artist does not need to worry much about their image because it is only a human wearing a mouse hat. Music videos can also either be used to evoke emotion, make people think hard about life and the world or music videos can be used to represent the artists character.
