Banding (Research)

Branding is something artists use to build their image within the music industry. Many artist have a certain look that they have to either gain a fan base or something that reflects back onto their personality , Examples of artists that that take a similar approach to this are, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Daft Punk and Michael Jackson. 

Daft punk has broadcasted their image to the world as robots, as soon as someone sees this image they would immediately think about daft punk because this is how they want the world to see and recognise them.

Lady gaga is now wearing this sort of make up to promote her new album 'Pop Art'. This is some sort of branding because Lady gag is already seen as a person who is very outspoken and original with her weird costumes, however this is why she has a very strong fan base because she has this originality that is not seen on a daily basis in artists in the 21st century. 

Beyonce also changed the way she looked to promote one of her albums, (Sasha Fierce), throughout the release of this album she would go to different events looking different, not as she would normally look like for example she wouldn't smile just like the album were she looks strong, fierce, independent and serious.
