Function of a Music Video (RESEARCH)

In the 60's, the art of colour television was introduced. With the introduction of this technology, artists were able to take advantage of this by recording music videos and getting their production across different elements of the media. Before artists would often distribute their music through live performances but they realised they wouldn't be able to reach a wider audience so they started recording live performances and becoming music videos.

The main purpose of a music video is to promote the artist and to show images and footages that represents the certain style of they are trying to display.

In this video, we can see the artists are trying to promote their image and their music by demonstrating appealing props that will catch their particular target audience. Also we can interpret that the artists are trying to send a message to the audience within the music video by using Camera, Editing, Mise en scene and Sound.
